The Journey of Santosh Karakoti (Sonu) – From Passion to Success
From an early age, Sonu Karakoti exhibited a steadfast enthusiasm for DJing and lighting. His journey commenced on April 21, 2007, when he received his first booking for a modest sum of ₹500 over five days. Although this was a humble beginning, it sparked a dream that would ultimately define his future.
With a strong resolve to transform his passion into a career, Sonu began providing DJ and lighting services at various homes throughout his village. Rather than waiting for opportunities to come to him, he proactively promoted his services by visiting homes and personally informing families, “If you have a wedding or any event at home, please reach out to me.” His commitment and tenacity gradually fostered trust within the community, leading to an increasing recognition of his talent.
While managing his college studies and coaching classes, Sonu diligently honed his skills, gaining knowledge about sound, lighting, and event setups to establish a solid foundation in the industry.

Nevertheless, the journey was fraught with obstacles. During difficult times, his mother made the sacrifice of selling her gold jewelry to support his DJ and lighting ambitions, a gesture that further fueled his determination. With the unwavering backing of his parents, Sonu gradually invested in new DJ and lighting equipment, broadening his services and establishing a reputation in Jim Corbett and its neighboring areas.
Just as his efforts began to bear fruit, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, causing a complete halt to weddings, parties, and events. The ensuing months were mentally and financially taxing due to the lack of work. However, Sonu remained resolute. As the world began to recover, he restarted his business from the ground up, infusing it with renewed vigor and commitment.
Today, HUMS Event Organizer is a well-established name in the event industry of Jim Corbett. Sonu Karakoti now operates a fully equipped warehouse filled with an extensive array of DJ and lighting equipment, ensuring exceptional services for weddings, parties, and grand events. His remarkable journey from a modest ₹500 booking to becoming a prominent event planner in Corbett is a true testament to his passion and perseverance.

कॉलेज की पढ़ाई और कोचिंग क्लासेस को मैनेज करते हुए, सोनू ने लगातार अपने स्किल्स को निखारा। उन्होंने साउंड, लाइटिंग और इवेंट सेटअप के बारे में गहराई से जानकारी हासिल की, ताकि वे इस क्षेत्र में एक मजबूत नींव तैयार कर सकें।

हालाँकि यह सफर आसान नहीं था, रास्ते में कई कठिनाइयाँ आईं। मुश्किल समय में, सोनू की माँ ने अपने बेटे के सपनों को पंख देने के लिए अपने सोने के गहने तक बेच दिए। यह त्याग सोनू के हौसले को और भी मज़बूत कर गया। माता-पिता के इस अटूट समर्थन के साथ, सोनू ने धीरे-धीरे नया DJ और लाइटिंग इक्विपमेंट खरीदना शुरू किया। अपनी सेवाओं का दायरा बढ़ाते हुए उन्होंने जिम कॉर्बेट और आस-पास के क्षेत्रों में अपनी एक पहचान बना ली।
जैसे ही उनकी मेहनत रंग लाने लगी, तभी कोविड-19 महामारी ने दस्तक दी। शादी-ब्याह, पार्टियाँ और इवेंट्स पूरी तरह से रुक गए। ये महीनों का समय मानसिक और आर्थिक दोनों ही दृष्टि से बेहद चुनौतीपूर्ण था। लेकिन सोनू ने हार नहीं मानी। जैसे ही दुनिया फिर से पटरी पर आने लगी, उन्होंने ज़ीरो से दोबारा शुरुआत की – इस बार और भी ज्यादा जोश और समर्पण के साथ।
